Day Tripping in Brookline, Best Place Goes To...

The day trip poll winner this week is of presidential stature, and part of Brookline's rich history.

Despite low voter turnout, it was a presidential race in the hunt for Brookline's finest day trip, and we can announce a winner. With just a few votes more than its fellow candidates, netting 33 percent of the votes, the JFK National Historic Site wins this week's poll.

No new reviews of these sites were posted in the last week, and no comments endorsing any particular competitor mean that poll numbers are the only consideration. Despite that, we still encourage you to head out to these places this summer and let us know what you think with a review.

Tied for second place, the Olmsted Historical Site and Larz Anderson Auto Museum. Each took in 25 percent of the vote. And an honorable mention goes to both the Longyear Museum and Old Burying Ground, who were tied for third place.

Here are the Winners' Circle standings thus far: People hunting for the best Mother's Day brunch are heading to Zaftigs DelicatessenFinesse Florist joined for the finest florist last week; TerraVino the top Wine shop in Coolidge Corner; along with Marathon Sports, the best sporting goods store in townbest tax prepDoug Murstein CPA; the best kids menu in town at Dorado Tacos & CemitasSt. Patrick's Day spot Matt Murphy's PubTrust Center for Early Education (TCEE) with best pre-school/day care in Brookline; and Paris Creperie home of the best smoothie.

As in past weeks, the JFK site will receive a framed Brookline Best of Patch Readers' Choice certificate and their directory listing will be added to the Readers' Choice 2012 category

We hope you'll stop by each of the places nominated for the poll, and leave a review on the site when you do.

Next week, we'll be firing up the grill with the best place to pick up grillables: meat, fish, poultry, vegetables. Anything you're slapping on the grill, we want to know where it came from. Leave yours in the comments below.
