Crews Shutting off Water to Some Fisher Hill Homes Today

Disruption should be last before work is complete.

The town plans to shut off water to several homes near the Dean Road Bridge for several hours today as crews connect a new water line under the bridge.

The disruption is expected to last form 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. According to a memo from town engineer Bill Smith, the following address will be affected:

  • 12, 18, 20, 24, 26 and 30 Dean Road
  • 149 Beaconsfield Road
  • 1773 Beacon St. (All Saints Parish)

In the memo, Smith wrote today's work would mark the last utility connection before the bridge is reopened to traffic next month.

The T recently announced that it expects to open the bridge a head of time, assuming working is not delayed by bad weather. The sidewalk on the east side of the bridge has already been opened to pedestrians.

Construction on the 78-year-old bridge has forced T officials to suspend train service on the D Line five times since work on the $2.2 million project began in May. Officials don't expect service to be disrupted by any of the remaining work.
