Brookline's New Golf Concessions Stand, by MassArt

Grad Students from MassArt will be designing a new concessions stand at the Golf Course.

Outside of the chipping green at the Lynch Municipal Golf Course, a new structure designed by graduate students from Mass. College of Art and Design will spring up over the summer.

As part of a summer semester course, 12 students enrolled in a grad class have developed a design for a new concessions stand and grilling area on the golf course. The Town is merely covering the materials, Parks and Recreation Director Lisa Paradis explained to the Board of Selectmen on Tuesday night.

"The structure is awesome. We’re excited about it," Paradis told the Board. "It's a neat project; it looks like a piece of art on the golf course."

The Selectmen approved a (MOU) with the college on Tuesday night, describing the circumstances under which the project could be canceled. According to the MOU, the project is expected complete by August 10.

Paradis also explained that the Town is paying only for materials, thus the project will cost "a lot less" than if the building were designed and built by contractors.

The structure will sit where VineRipe Grill currently sets up its outdoor grill, and the restaurant will have use of the structure.
