The following incident report is based on Brookline Police Department dispatch logs for June 4 through 7. Look for weekday incident reports twice a week, and arrest logs each Tuesday on Brookline Patch. Suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

Breaking and Entering, Theft and Larceny

• The New England Institute of Art reported a larceny, saying that several computer mice, keyboards and monitors were taken from a computer lab some time over the weekend, between Friday, June 1 and Monday, June 4. 
• Heath Street and Hammond Pond Parkway, crash reported at about 3 p.m. Monday. Two vehicles were towed from the scene. Police reported that a man was laid out on the roadway, and fluids were cleaned up from the scene. 
• When a Winchester Street resident, who had parked his car on the road, returned to his car on Monday, at about 9:30 p.m., he found that the front passenger window had been smashed open and a GPS unit was taken from inside. 
• Another vehicle on Winchester Street, several houses down from the previous incident, was reported broken into between 10 p.m. Monday and 7 p.m. on Monday. Police believe the suspect entered through an unlocked door and rummaged through the vehicle's contents. Nothing was reported missing, however. 
• Police officers were taking a report of a Winchester Street motor vehicle breaking, when they noticed a pair of duffel bags left at the corner of the street. One resident said the bags had been in his vehicle, which was parked at his house--the hatchback was ajar, and the car had been rummaged through.
• Another Winchester Street resident reported a theft regarding their vehicle. At 2 p.m., on Tuesday at 169 Winchester Street, the resident reported that his vehicle was missing. 
• On Coolidge Street, a caller who had parked on Coolidge Street at about 8 p.m. on Tuesday repored that his vehicle had been broken into and some loose change was stolen from the car. 
• Another Winchester Street reported that someone had rummaged through his car between Monday and Tuesday night, but nothing was missing from the car. 
• Bicycle reported stolen at about 10 a.m. on Wednesday, from outside of 18 Davis Avenue. 
• A caller from Coolidge Street reported that several bags were removed from his vehicle between 6 p.m. on Monday and noon on Tuesday. Police found a bag in the area from another case while investigating vehicle breaks in the immediate area--one of which appeared to belong to the victim. 
• Scanners reported on Wednesday, at about 4 p.m. that the Star Market on Beacon Street was robbed by a suspect who passed a note, but did not show a weapon. The suspect then went outside and car-jacked a silver Lexus SUV. The suspect was described as a tanned white man in his 50s, 5'10" tall with a scruffy beard and a beer belly. He was last seen driving the wrong way up University Road in the SUV. Police found the SUV near the Brookline Hills MBTA stop shortly after the incident, and determined that the suspect may have gone toward Cleveland Circle. Both Brookline and Waltham Police were looking for a suspect named Steven Lovering, who Boston Police arrested on Friday. 
• Three customers at Healthworks on Commonwealth Avenue reported that people had stolen items from their lockers between 6:30 p.m. and 8:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Police are investigating these incidents. 
• Some time between 8 a.m. and 11 p.m. on Wednesday someone took an unlocked bike from the porch of a Davis Avenue home. The owner reported this to police shortly afterward. 
• 77 Verndale Street, vehicle reported stolen at about 8 a.m. on Thursday morning. 
• Larceny reported at 575 Washington Street, 10:15 p.m. on Thursday. 
• Police took a report from Coolidge House of a larceny, at about 11 a.m. 
• Breaking-and-entering reported at 42 Harvard Avenue, Thursday at about noon.
• 1:45 p.m. on Thursday, a Toxteth Street resident reported a breaking-and-entering, and described a suspect: a tall, thin black man wearing a baseball cap and carrying a wooden cane. Another Toxteth Street resident reported that the same man had been on the back porch of their home. The man was arrested and charged with breaking-and-entering, and trespassing.

Traffic

• Hit-and-run accident reported at 7:30 a.m. at Horace James Circle. 
• Police found a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run accident at the Hammond Street/Heath Street intersection. The driver was stopped at Route 9.

Other

• Assault-and-battery reported on Beacon Street when a meter maid asked a cab driver to move his car up and feed the meter. The driver became angry and attempted to hit the meter maid with his door, knocking her backwards. The driver was arrested and charged with assault-and-battery.
• A man was arrested after an assault-and-battery reported at 1200 Beacon Street. Police report that they towed a taxi from the scene and made an arrest.
