The following incident report is based on Brookline Police Department dispatch logs for July 2 through 5. Look for weekday incident reports twice a week, and arrest logs each Tuesday on Brookline Patch. Suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

Police received a number of reports of fireworks over the course of last week, at least 10 reports made it into the Brookline Police Log between last Monday and late morning on Friday. For anyone who used fireworks, we hope you followed the correct safety measures. 

Breaking and Entering, Theft and Larceny

• 9 a.m. Monday, police receive a report of a larceny of a vehicle outside of 1285 Beacon Street. 
• A caller reported fraud by check on Harvard Street, which was assigned by a suspect with an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Monday, at 12:30 p.m., the case was under investigation.
• A victim reported that she had left her scooter unlocked and parked on Park Street, and when she returned at 6 p.m. Monday, it was missing. 
• Police took a report, 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday of a theft at 227 Babcock Street, the Human Resources Center.
• A victim reported to police that three separate cash withdrawals were made from their account. Police have issued a warrant for that suspect, and detectives will follow up.
• Stop and Shop reported a shoplifting that resulted in a court summons. Loss prevention staff saw the man, and waited for him to use the fraudulent coupons, and had him in custody at the loss prevention office at about 6 p.m. on Tuesday. 
• Beacon Street store staff stopped a reported shoplifter at about 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4. The suspect refused to leave the store, and was driving a car full of items which police say he got through dumpster diving. He was issued a verbal no-tresspass order.
• A woman walking down Winchester Street early on the morning of July 5 was robbed by a man at gunpoint, and Brookline police are looking for any information which may be of use. According to a press release, the victim told police that she was walking on Winchester Street, and was stopped by a woman in a car who asked for directions. During that conversation, she saw a man walk past, who later flashed a gun and demanded her money, and took keys and other items out of her shoulder bag. The man was described as a middle-aged black man wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt. He was carrying a silver handgun. 
• A resident reported, at about 3:45 p.m. Thursday, that she had left her vehicle unlocked overnight, and when she returned that morning her wallet was missing. It contained her cards, and her international driver's license. No fradulent charges were reported, and the cards were canceled. 

Traffic

• No one was injured in the 9 a.m. cyclist crash on Sumner Road on Monday. The driver was attempting to park, and struck a cyclist he says he did not see.
• Police were contacted about a hit-and-run accident, in which a grey car scraped a woman's vehicle, and did not stop to excnahge information. Police were able to get the license plate of the offending vehicle, and oversaw an exchange of information on Tuesday, 8:30 a.m. There was minimal damage to the vehicles involved.

Animal Reports

• Police received a bat call from 1508 Beacon Street at about 11:30 p.m. Thursday.

Other

• Police received a complaint of graffiti on a rented truck on Thayer Street at about 7:45 a.m. Monday. Police say they may send the Walk & Talk unit to follow up.
• At 3:45 p.m. Monday, witness on Egmont Street reported he saw a man from his bedroom window gesture with his hands, aiming a gun at the window next to his. Because the subject has a history of arraignments and has defaulted from court, a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
• Assault-and-battery reported at the Anna's Taqueria on Beacon Street. Police received information that a suspect and victim were at the nearby liquor store, Tuesday around 6:45 p.m.
• 7:45 p.m. Tuesday assault-and-battery reported at the Bay State Federal Savings Bank, in the 1300 block of Beacon Street. The suspect wanted was described as a tanned white man with grey hair, in his 50s, wearing a tan, wide-brimmed beach hat. 
• 300 South Street reported a past assault-and-battery at about 10 a.m. Thursday. 
• Several graffiti complaints reported at various MBTA stops in Brookline between 6:30 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. on Thursday night. The Beaconsfield, Chestnut Hill Avenue and Brookline Village stop were all affected. Police have not reported the three are linked. 
• Someone egged a house on Winthrop Road in Brookline. According to the Brookline police blog, "The EGG-teriors of the home including the windows, deck, and front door were egged numerous times." No other homes in the area were egged, and the homeowner did not have issues with anyone. He was able to clean his home after a few hours of cleaning.
