Brookline Food Trucks: When and Where? [Updated]

Want to know where you can catch the food trucks when they start running in Brookline? Here's the list and schedule.

Cheap, fast, and mobile food is on its way to Brookline. A couple of weeks ago, Brookline's Selectmen approved five food trucks to start serving in Brookline, kicking off the six-month pilot program (despite some opposition).

Paris Creperie says their truck is among those who will begin serving this week--they start on Friday afternoon. Some trucks may start later than that, but all will be in town until October 15 when the pilot program ends. After that, the Selectmen will consider the success of the program before deciding on the future of food trucks in Brookline.

Below is the schedule for Brookline's five food trucks. When and where you can find them:

Baja Taco Truck Expected in early June. Monday-Friday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the median parking spaces across from 1842 Beacon Street.

Compliments Food Truck – Begins operating in Brookline June 14. Sunday, Wednesday and Friday, from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the median parking spaces across from 1842 Beacon Street
Tuesday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Pleasant Street near 940 Commonwealth Avenue

Paris Creperie – Now operating in Brookline. Saturday 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., near 1622 Beacon Street.
Sunday 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Monday to Friday 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. near 11 St. Mary's Street

Pennypacker's Food Truck – Now operating in Brookline.  Monday-Friday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. near 11 St. Mary's Street

Renula's Greek Kitchen Expected in early May.– Monday-Friday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. near 11 St. Mary's Street

It seems Compliments Food Truck will not be coming to Brookline. Their truck has an Allston street address painted on the side. There's no mention of Brookline on their Facebook page. What happened?

I would need to get in touch with Compliments to be sure, but I believe that this is their first weekend in operation (anywhere). So, it may be that they just haven't gone to their Brookline spot yet.

Pennypackers, I have no idea what's happening. Will have to speak with someone to be sure.

(The Allston street address on the side of the truck is its home address.)

It also seems that Pennypacker's Food Truck has chosen a different location. (See www.pennypackersfoodtruck.com)

It's almost as if the Board of Selectmen want the Mobile Food Pilot to fail.

Just heard back from Pennypackers. They have been operating for weeks. I recall hearing that from someone earlier, but wanted to confirm before I updated this.

Sorry for the delay, gang!

The folks at Compliments told me that they are very grateful for Selectman Jesse Mermell's support.

I hope to see Compliments tomorrow. Here's a link to my Facebook conversation with them: http://www.facebook.com/#!/ComplimentsFoodTruck/posts/377450352303548?notif_t=feed_comment

They didn't confirm their hours of operation so I assume it's still 3-11 p.m.

They said they have been in town for three weeks. They run on a different schedule than the folks from Paris, which could by why they seem harder to spot.

I'm only confused by the lack of promotion. It seems that food trucks employ the "Field of Dreams" approach -- if we park in your neighborhood, you will find us and buy our food.

I got dinner from Compliments (beside the Englewood Ave. T-Stop) tonight. It's great food with local ingredients made by a very friendly, enthusiastic couple. Highly recommended!
