Next weekend, the Brookline Ballet School puts on its first production of The Nutcracker: Kingdom of the Sweets. The show features students of the school, and original choreography by the teachers.

Artistic director Trinidad Vives said the students have been a joy to work with. They have rehearsed about once a week since early October, although many dancers are at the school at least twice a week anyway.

"We would like to continue this tradition and do more," Vives explained, "We're doing the second act to test the waters."

There are two shows at the Brimmer and May School, on Saturday, Dec. 17, which start at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. Tickets run $12.
