Brookline Announces September 11 Anniversary Events

Board of Selectmen announce services marking the 10th anniversary of the September 11 attacks on Washington, Pennsylvania and New York.

The following is a press release from the Brookline Board of Selectmen:

The Town of Brookline is planning a memorial services to honor the 10th anniversary of 9/11 on Sunday morning, September 11, 2011 at 9 a.m. at the Babcock Street Fire Station. The ceremony will last an hour to coincide with the 9:59 a.m. fall of the first tower at the World Trade Center in New York. The event will also include the dedication of a bench in memory of Manny Del Valle, a New York City firefighter and Brookline High School alumnus of 1988.

By providing notice of its plans, the Town wishes to identify, and coordinate as necessary, other 9/11 events scheduled in the community. We encourage organizers of other 9/11 events in Brookline to contact Bill McGroarty, Veterans Director at bmcgroarty@brooklinema.gov. We also encourage any families of the victims with a Brookline connection to identify themselves to Mr. McGroarty.

Any organizers or family members willing to speak with Patch are welcome to e-mail Grahame.Turner@Patch.com as well.
