Brighton Man Charged With Stealing Metal, Tools, Car Batteries
The following information was supplied by the Brookline Police Department. Charges listed do not imply convictions.
10:15 p.m.: While patrolling the area of lower Harvard Street, an officer observed a vehicle turn right off of Commonwealth Avenue on to Harvard Street. The vehicle seemed to weighed down so much so that the tires seemed flat. The vehicle, a Jeep Cherokee, abruptly turned down an alleyway which leads to the Herb Chambers dealership at the rear of 1200 Commonwealth Ave.
The driver hopped out of the Jeep and started unloading items into a shed next to a dumpster. The officer observed the suspect unload two car batteries and then stepped out of the cruiser. When the officer got the man’s name, he ran the info through dispatch. The suspect’s license was suspended. The rear of the Jeep was open, and the officer reportedly observed pipes, sheets of metal and various scrap metal parts. The officers placed the suspect under arrest and searched the vehicle. They found two car batteries, a brand new nail gun, a Dewalt electrical saw, a Black and Decker power drill, a brake friction meter, power transmission tools and boxes of functioning tools.
Officers charged Joseph Mrozinski, 46, of 335 Washington Street, Brighton, with operating after a suspension, larceny from a building and receiving stolen goods.
6:55 a.m.: Officers arrived at the home of a suspect with a warrant on Rice Street. Margaret Larpe, 61, of 6 Rice Street was taken into custody for a warrant of apprehension out of Dorchester District Court from 5/23/2012 for six counts of larceny by check, under $250 and nine counts of larceny by check, over $250.
7:28 p.m.: Officers were monitoring the area around Washington Street and Evans Road because of recent reports of speeding in the area. Officers observed a white Cadillac Deville pass them with no rear taillights illuminated. Officers pulled the Cadillac over near the intersection of Washington Street and Corey Road.
When the officer asked for the driver’s license and registration, the driver stated that she did not have a license. A query revealed that the driver’s license had been suspended. Officers arrested Denise Whitehead, 56, of 29 Jette Court, Brighton and charged her with operating after a suspension and operating without taillights.
