Bomb Threat at 10 Brookline Place

New England Institute of Art evacuated due to a possible bomb threat just after 11 a.m.

 

[Update: Latest scanner reports say police and fire have cleared the scene. People are being let back into the building. 12:29 p.m.]

According to scanner reports, the New England Institute of Art at 10 Brookline Place has been evacuated by the Brookline Fire Department because of a possible bomb threat. Boston departments are also on their way to the scene. 

[Update: According to the Brookline Police Twitter, the threat came in the form of a note. Boston Police are bringing the bomb squad and a K-9 unit. 11:23 a.m.]

I think it's important to note that the majority of people who occupy this building are actually staff of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. While some student may have avoided taking an unwanted exam, or somehow managed to delay submitting a term paper, the event takes away hours of productivity for hundreds of people working for a very community-oriented, mission-driven organization that helps fight cancer--a disease, which not unlikely affects people close to the person who did this. The shortsightedness of this criminal is pathetic.

That is a good point. We did hear a lot about the school, as there were reports it was in a faculty lounge, but we didn't hear as much about the other people impacted.
