For the Best Live Events in Brookline, Go To...
With a strong field of nominees this week, the Best Of Readers Choice winner had some stiff competition for the title of Best Live Events in Brookline.
This week's decision was a difficult one, a tough field of candidates--and such diverse events that no answer was wrong. Despite that, there was a clear winner based on poll results--with no new reviews posted.
However, first a mention of the runners up. Tied for third, both the Brookline Booksmith, and Brookline High School (nominated for its lectures, slideshows and other events). They also received the comment love on the poll piece, garnering positive feedback from our users.
In second place, the Puppet Showplace Theatre was only a handful of votes behind the ultimate winner, and launched a strong social media campaign. Most of their programming is also posted on the Events Calendar.
It was a tough contest, and the winner--Coolidge Corner Theatre--ultimately took 42 percent of the votes. They are known for programs like the Science on Screen series, Coolidge @fter Midnite, and their other events, like the Big Lebowski party.
Here are the Winners' Circle standings thus far: Best day trip, the JFK National Historic Site. best Mother's Day brunch to Zaftigs Delicatessen; Finesse Florist joined for the finest florist last week; TerraVino the top Wine shop in Coolidge Corner; along with Marathon Sports, the best sporting goods store in town; best tax prep, Doug Murstein CPA; the best kids menu in town at Dorado Tacos & Cemitas; St. Patrick's Day spot Matt Murphy's Pub; Trust Center for Early Education (TCEE) with best pre-school/day care in Brookline; and Paris Creperie home of the best smoothie.
As in past weeks, the Coolidge will receive a framed Brookline Best of Patch Readers' Choice certificate and their directory listing will be added to the Readers' Choice 2012 category.
We hope you'll stop by each of the places nominated for the poll, and leave a review on the site when you do. Check the Events Calendar regularly for events at all of the candidates.
Best of Patch Readers' Choice 2012 is going on summer hiatus; this will be the last poll contest for a while. We plan to be back in the fall with more contests that highlight our local businesses and places — so you can find the 'best of' Brookline.
