Beaver to Induct Inaugural Class to Athletics Hall of Fame

Turner tops list of luminaries.

Beaver Country Day School is proud to announce its inaugural Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Saturday.

Wayne Turner '95, perhaps the most heralded boys’ high school basketball player to come out of Boston, highlights Beaver’s first class of inductees. He is coming home from Kentucky where he served as an assistant for the University of Kentucky basketball team in its run to the NCAA Final Four this year.

Turner's records at Beaver still stand. He set the boys' basketball career scoring record with 2,542 points. During his senior year, he was named the Gatorade Player of the Year, a McDonald's All-American, and a Parade Magazine All-American. He was a three-time Boston Globe All-Scholastic. At Kentucky, he was a member of two National Championship teams.

In addition to Turner, the first Hall of Fame class includes: Caitlin Fisher '00, who holds the girls' basketball scoring record and went on to play soccer at Harvard where she was an Ivy League All-Star; the NEPSAC Championship baseball team from 1987; Emily Hewitt '71 and Julie Bryant Woodger '57 who were both standout 12 sport varsity letter winners.

"We are thrilled to be able to celebrate Beaver’s rich and successful athletic tradition," said Director of Athletics Sherry Levin. "The successes of these outstanding student-athletes are the foundation for our current and future honors."
