Alan Khazei Announces U.S. Senate Run

Brookline resident announces he will run for the U.S. Senate seat held by Scott Brown.

Alan Khazei announced on his website this morning that he will be running for a U.S. Senate seat in the 2012 election. His website posted the announcement,

Today I’m announcing that I am an official candidate for U.S. Senate in Massachusetts in 2012.We have to grow our economy, create new jobs, and expand opportunity for the middle class. Together, we can do it.

City Year Founder Khazei ran in the 2009-10 Special Election to fill the seat opened by the death of Senator Ted Kennedy, but was defeated in the primary by Attorney General Martha Coakley. Jonathan Alter also called Khazei "Teddy's Rightful Heir" in a Newsweek column.

Supporters can stop by the Old South Meeting House tonight at 6 p.m. for Khazei's kick-off event.

"Teddy's Rightful Heir" what a crock of BS!
We the "Great Unwashed, feed-up" and unenrolled sent Brown to DC
to send a message to Beacon Hill and both sides of the aisle in Washington
that "We the People" are feed-up, angry as hell and not going to take the
fuzzy end of the stick constantly being offered by our elected LeaKers!
Brown has done a good job, NOT FANTASITC but much better then average!
I have urged him to abandon the gop to be a INDEPENDENT or UNENROLLED
Representative of "We the People" but he has yet to feel a need. Can and would
is my feeling. I feel betrayed by his backing water on DADT but respect his political
advice and know he will do much better when the fight is closer!
