A New Green Beginning For An Old Institution
Volunteers revitalizing 150-year-old home of the Brookline Community Foundation.
Volunteers braved the heat and humidity this morning to push forward with renovations of the Brookline Community Foundation building on Webster Place in Brookline Village.
Gwen Ossenfort, director of operations for the foundation, said the 150-year-old house was in desperate need of renovation, including weatherstripping, insulation, a new foundation, and re-roofing.
This morning, July 17, Jim Lockwood and Marcos Santos of the Brookline-based Green Guild teamed up with volunteer John Manaras to begin work on the rear roof. Anderson Insulation was also on site blowing insulation made completely out of recycled newspaper. Other work that has been completed is a new basement floor, which was just dirt until recently, a concrete foundation and installation of new windows.
