Healthy Cooking Comes to Beaver Summer Programs
Summer camp season is almost upon us and Beaver campers are in for a real treat this year. Kids love creating in the kitchen like on their favorite Food Network TV shows and now they’ll be able to thanks to a new program at Beaver Country Day School in Chestnut Hill.
Beaver has teamed with Healthy Habits Kitchen in Wellesley, a company dedicated to helping busy families eat healthy, to offer a new Healthy Cooking program. Starting on June 25, campers in grades 3-8 (Upper and Senior) will be able to take part in the new activity and learn about nutrition, food preparation, teamwork and cooking while doing what they love, creating fun food that they can take home and show off to their family.
Each week, campers will be able to choose Healthy Cooking as one of their daily electives. They’ll cook with summer berries and fresh farmers market produce to create healthy desserts and edible art as well as nutritious versions of their favorite Italian and New England regional dishes. From strawberry cheesecake to Johnny Cakes kids, will be able to create fabulous and fun dishes and desserts all summer long.
