Sardines distributed through Gefen that were packaged in Portugal during the years 5769 and 5770 have been found to contain parasitic worms. Consumers are encouraged to return any unopened cans to their place of purchase for a full refund. The Orthodox Union has tested other distributors and as of yet the parasites are exclusive to Gefen sardines from Portugal. Skinless and boneless sardine products have also been cleared.
